Being an encourager
One is either a good listener or a good talker - by birth. But, with God's help (and, some continual hammering,) one can become good at both.
I married a listener (duh) and he continues to get lots of practice. I never thought it quite fair that the writer of Proverbs touted the wisdom of those who kept their mouths shut - they do it naturally, right? (How hard is that?? sigh)
In the context of being an encourager to those who need comfort, someone said:
"He who listens well, speaks well." I love that. (May I do that!)
Listen first. Then . . . speak God's truth wrapped in love.
You won't go wrong. You may be the only one who takes the time to listen well. Then, perhaps, your words will go down deep and lovely, as intended.
