Wisdom
Amazing that something so essential can be so accessible -
God says, "Just ask (if you lack it.)" James 1.
Was He kidding? (does God kid?) Of course we lack it - maybe He knows we forget we are on the low end of the wisdom stick - and forget that until we hit bottom.
Wisdom means: insight, good sense, and judgment
There was a story in the Reader’s Digest – a man gained wisdom from his dog "...who asked for love and attention and got it.”
Same with us--no games involved – if we are rightly related to God, we just ask for it, and God dishes it out, in abundance. The key is recognizing we need it.
God has provided an “open door” policy. When we need help, we have access – the real question is: do we take advantage of God’s gracious policy?
Is our first response in a quandary: “God, help – I need your wisdom--as soon as possible." Or, do we waste time wringing our hands, raising our blood pressure, eating a whole bag of double stuffed oreos or peanut M&M’s and THEN going to The God of All Wisdom –
I’m afraid I can be guilty of doing all those things before going to the only place of true wisdom. I've been needing wisdom lately - or at least recognizing my need more. Somehow that gives me peace. I've asked. Now, it's God's turn.
